Well winter is coming and we are fast running out of daylight so every second counts in the closing winter months this weekend's jobs included sorting out the greenhouse and making plans for a new shed and patio

its all green
Well shall I dare to say this years growing season has well and truly started there are signs of strong new of new life all around the garden. Even though we did do some cheating and visited a garden center for some plants a couple of tomato plants and a strawberry plant. Neatly now planted in couple of hanging baskets that where picked up from asda and now screwed to the side of the shed. Not to keep watered and wait.

Autum days
The feeling of Autumn has arrived to our garden
The corner of the garden where we have a apple tree is littered with wind fall apples leaves me with a question of what to do with them as there is only so much apple crumble a man can eat and with drawers in the freezer busting with blanched apples leads me to wine wether that was due to the partaily fill glass in my hand over the weeked i dont know, but it seems like a fair idea.
So sum searching later and there are tons of recipes for all different types of brews so me being me i picked the easyest one i will keep you posted on how this goes.

The begining
Where do i begin? that's it my daughter arrived home from school some months ago with a pea plant in a small plastic coffee cup (like the ones out of a drinks machine) and announced this is the start of our veg garden dad.
Well considering our garden is pretty small to say the least and there would be certain people that would not be happy if we started to dig it up to plant a veg garden so a different idea was come up with while visiting my mothers house (who shall from now on in this blog be known as nanny)
after some searching round the back of nanny's green house we found two large rectangle tubs and a few smaller round ones which some how found there way into the back of the car,
and after a trip to the shop that sells everything for a pound we had the making of a small potted veg garden growing on our window sill.
All was going great kids showed interest in the new shoots that where poking there heads through the earth that came with the seeds and a general interest in where there food came from and how it was grown.
When the seedlings where ready we had great fun in getting the compost ready in the larger tubs the pea plant and a bean plant from my other daughter also joined the veg plot things were great and all plants were doing really well then we had to go on our family holiday to wales.
On our return we found that the slugs had also been on holiday in our mini veg garden.
We have now been back off our hols for a couple of weeks now and are planning to be prepared for the next growing year
So please keep looking a we blog the whole of what goes on in my city garden
